Morgan received permission from Sterling Court Apartments to use a 450 sq ft corner that is owned by the property, but was not included within the property walls when they were constructed. The corner of property is adjacent to the Duck Creek Channel that runs for miles in the SE part of the Las Vegas Valley.
We have started a clean-up of the lot, which was filled with garbage and broken bottles when we found it. We have also started to excavate, mulch and water the property to build soil for our transplants that we will soon plant. We have also put up a shade to help keep the sun off the soil during the hottest parts of the day.
We plan to construct trellises for grapes, plant corn, tomatoes, potatoes, peppers, herbs, onions, garlic, spinach, squash, beans, peas, carrots and more using principles of perma-culture.
We have had many curious looks from the on-lookers living in the condos next door, but everyone has been positive in their response to the idea of planting a garden on the other side of their wall. Thanks for the support!
